Tongariro Crossing Lodge is not your run-of-the-mill hotel with cookie-cutter rooms and services.
What our guests enjoy most about staying with us is our warm hospitality and our ability, as a small lodge with 12 suites, to give each guest personal attention - something not often found in larger establishments.
Guests also rate our location very highly. Based in the heart of the resort town of Waimarino (formerly National Park Village), the natural wonders of the Tongariro National Park are right on our doorstep. We are just 30 minutes from the start of the legendary Tongariro Alpine Crossing, with shuttle services to the hike and wider Park available from our doorstep. We are also only 20 minutes from the Whakapapa ski area and Sky Waka gondola on Mt Ruapehu (open year-round). A good choice of cafes, restaurants and bars are just a short stroll away, as well as outdoors equipment rental stores.
In addition, guests love our spacious, warm and immaculately clean suites, and the quiet surroundings of our lovingly-tended gardens, as well as our hearty breakfast. Crafted to give guests the energy they need for a day of adventures, our breakfast is served with our famous freshly-baked homemade bread in our dining room with views of Mt Ngauruhoe on clear days.
With our local knowledge, we provide expert information on weather conditions, activities they can enjoy in the area and dining options. We can also help with the logistics of booking shuttles and tours.
The quality of our facilities and services is reflected our Qualmark Silver Sustainable Tourism Business rating, and our 4 star plus classification in the Bed & Breakfast category.
Our mission is to allow guests to look after their explorations, while we look after them!

As travellers ourselves, we know what it’s like to discover a new country and adventures. We are passionate about providing our guests with the best possible service. We strive to offer all the home comforts, plus a few extra touches, to help guests relax and recharge with the splendour of Tongariro National Park as their backdrop.
